TIAAN RAUTENBACH
After completing his BA (Hons) Degree in Drama at the University of Pretoria in 1999, Tiaan has enjoyed an exciting and blessed career in the fields of theatre and television. From uttering the classic lines “Freeze. There was a shot fired!” as a WALCO security guard, to singing the Hallelujah Chorus as part of PACT’s Singing Christmas Tree and duetting with the likes of Vicky Sampson and Nataniël, Tiaan has always counted himself lucky when it comes to living his dream. As writer he has co-written (and starred in) three television series Blikskottel, Kompleks and Kompleks 2, and he wrote songs for various children’s theatre productions. His last four years were mainly spent on the Barnyard stages across the country, doing everything from Wally in Glory Days to Disco Benny in 70’s Revolution. He also had the opportunity to share some screen time with actors Sam Neill and Alice Krige in the upcoming feature film Skin. Tiaan plays the guitar and the piano and he assures us that there will be a solo album somewhere in his not too distant future. The Full Monty marks his first return to the musical theatre stage in five years and as if that isn’t enough reason to freak out, he also has to take his kit off. All of that aside, Tiaan is really excited to be a part of this production and working with such great talent. He would like to dedicate his performance to Dweezle, who is now in a better place, chasing birds in the sky.
